Holtza

I stupidly put my Nikon D60 in my suitcase during a trip, even though we all know how airport people treat luggage. It isn't extremely devestating - partly because I haven't been a very active photographer the last couple of years - but it still makes me sad to see my first proper camera go to the grave.

I had about 2000 messages. Now they're down to 742.

Funnily enough (that probably isn't even a word. See? I've been absent too long) lots of the latest journal entries from people I'm following has titles like "I've been absent...", "Long time no see!", "I'm back!" or "Um... oh hai. It's been a while. Did you get pregnant?"

Actually, those weren't the actual titles. But you get the point. Taking longer breaks from deviantART seems to be usual. Coming back in time for summer and sun and pretty flowers to take photos of also seems to be a trend. I'm following that trend.

I haven't snapped any proper pictures in AGES. I mean months. The excellent weather outside makes me want to grab a hold of my companion cube - I mean camera (yes, I've been playing Portal since we last met. Both the first and second. Though I'm still not completely done with the second. But I'm getting there!) - and take some ok-but-not-incredible-pictures(-I-mean-look-at-the-pieces-of-art-others-can-make-why-cant-you?-But-anyway-you-can-try-and-maybe-get-better).

So, let's do that, shall we? Well. Let's not forget about exams and stuff first. But AFTER that. Yes?

Phew! Finally! Spring! And almost summer... seriously, it's WARM outside. It's hard to believe this weather is possible, after the snow and cold. I'd almost forgotten what walking barefoot felt like. And I cut the lawn yesterday. Amazing.

The season for flower photography is here again, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

I'll have so much to do this summer. There's work. And three summer courses. And driving license. And fun.

And oh, oh! I'm probably going to London in August, for Summer in the City (a YouTube gathering). That will be fun. I've never been to London before.

I've been slacking lately. With everything: studies, music, reading, writing as well as with photography. However, I've been looking at several new photos from my favourite photographers, and I felt a need to continue to grow. I want to be better. I haven't quite learned my Nikon yet, and I need to do that. I've got some reading and practicing to do, in other words.

Goal? Heck, I want to go to Japan.

So, it's that time of the year again. I'll summon up the dA-related part of the year, with the help of statistics;

"Holtza has 2,394 pageviews total" That's a pretty huge number, for me at least. I'm happy. <3

"Their deviation with the most comments is Dark Plea with 12 comments..." Which only was possible because of my gigantic dialogue with Skracke in the comments. Thank you, Skracke.

...while their most favourited one is The Snape Cru, with 8 favourites. I added it not too long ago. People really like Snape.

Their most viewed deviation is Focus with 99 views. (That two-digit number has been there for a while now. It's starting to get annoying. Won't somebody give it an extra view and pop the cherry? xD ) My most viewed pic is actually the scrap "I'm bleeding from my nose here", a screencap of Orochimaru with over 300 views. People really like Oro-chan, too.

"Every 12.4 days Holtza uploads a new deviation" I'm kinda lazy. But oh well, two pictures/month isn't too bad.

"The majority of their deviations are uploaded to the photography gallery (72)" That's not a surprise.

So, my most important conclusion: Forget about photography if it's pageviews, comments or favings you want. Upload pictures of hot fictional characters. Screencaps are OK.
